In 1865, Jose Maria Macieira created his company in order to negotiate oils, vinegars, wines and spirits.

Twenty years later the company started its own production and launched the MACIEIRA.

The idea of ??production in Portugal was the Commander and Knight of the Legion of Honor of France, José Guilherme Macieira, son of the founder, after studying oenology in the French region of Cognac. The success of APPLE in Portugal was immediate. In the nineteenth century, in 1892, King Charles I granted him the title of the Royal House supplier.

Since the beginning, Apple was produced in Portugal, specifically in Bombarral but since 2014 the group that owns the brand, Pernod Ricard decided to move production to Spain.
