QUINTA DO CIDRÔ CHARDONNAY
The first Chardonnay vines were planted in 1993, starting the project of innovation and experimentation at Quinta de Cidrô. The first wine was produced in 1996 by the famous Californian winemaker Jerry Luper, known for his involvement, as an intern, in the production of the famous Chateau Montalena Chardonnay 1973 from Napa Valley. In the 1997 harvest, the rapid adaptation of this noble variety to our terroir, together with Luper's experience, resulted in a memorable Chardonnay, winner of numerous awards.
FERMENTATION AND AGEING:
The Chardonnay from Quinta do Cidrô reflects all the quality of this French variety but with a strong influence from the region. It is therefore a unique and original wine where the character of the Chardonnay is enhanced by the minerality and concentration of the Douro. The musts are fermented in new French oak barrels, receiving the batonage treatment on fine lees.
TASTING NOTES:
With a beautiful golden color, the wine reveals a complexity of ripe tropical fruits and hints of wood through toasted aromas. A full-bodied wine, full of fruity flavors with an excellent velvety structure. Great acidity balances it and gives it a satisfying tasting.
