Ginjinha, or simply cherry, is a liquor obtained from the maceration of the fruit of cherry (Prunus Cerasus scientific name), similar to cherry, very popular in Portugal, especially in Lisbon, Obidos, 1 2 in Alcobaça3 and the Algarve.
It is customary to serve it with a tanned fruit in the cup bottom, popularly said "with them" or, when pure, "without them."
Ginjinha Espinheira, was founded in 1840 by the Galician Francisco Espinheira, in Largo de São Domingos in Lisbon.
