The recipe for Beirão Liquor is a closely guarded secret since 1929. Produced in the area of Lousã, near Coimbra, remained in the hands of the family of the founder - Joseph frowned Redondo - and became one of the most iconic brands of Portugal, and in particular the Borders. Its motto - The Liquor Portugal - is so well suited.
In recent years, the brand campaigns have won numerous national and international awards for marketing and advertising, and popularize two variants of traditional liquor Beirão: the Caipirão (with lime and crushed ice) and the Morangão (with strawberries, lemon juice and ice) . It is also used in other cocktails, all over the country, the Mojito to Sangria.
When drunk neat, serves both as an aperitif or digestive, and some people do not dismiss a 'smell' of Beirão liquor in coffee (Bica).
