CARTUXA RESERVA RED
This wine owes its quality to the name of the Carthusian monks who, since 1587, have practiced a solitary life of prayer in the Monastery of Santa Maria Scala Coeli, in Évora. It is the result of a careful selection of grape varieties in the oldest vineyard plots of the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation.
It was first produced in 1987.
GRAPE VARIETIES:
Alicante Bouschet and Aragonez
VINIFICATION:
Produced from carefully selected Alicante Bouschet and Aragonez grape varieties planted in the oldest vineyards of the Eugénio de Almeida Foundation. When the grapes reach the ideal stage of ripeness, they are harvested and transported to the winery, where the technological process begins with total destemming and light crushing. The grapes are then fermented separately in stainless steel tanks and French oak vats at a temperature of 27ºC, followed by a 15-day maceration period. It was aged for 15 months in new French oak barrels and 36 months in the bottle. WINE PRODUCTION:
