MONTE MEÃO WINE CASA DAS MAQUINAS 2021 RED

It owes its name to the fact that the old house, which housed the agricultural machinery, is located at the top. It is one of the oldest vineyards on the Quinta, it has 1.9 hectares and was planted in 1971 on schist soils, predominantly with the Touriga Francesa variety, but Tinta Barroca is also present, representing 30% of the total. The combination of these two varieties, in certain years, works very well, as the strength of Touriga Francesa is polished with the elegance of Tinta Barroca.

VARIETIES:
Touriga Franca 80% and Tinta Barroca 20%.

VINIFICATION:
It is one of the last vineyards to be harvested. The grapes are trodden by foot in presses, then transferred to vats, where fermentation takes place for eight days. The aging period lasts 16 months, in new and used barrels in proportions of 10% and 90% respectively.

TASTING NOTES:
The combination of these two varieties, in certain years, works very well, as the strength of Touriga Franca is polished with the elegance of Tinta Barroca.
