QUINTA DOS ACIPRESTES GRANDE RESERVA SOUSÃO

A powerful red wine that combines all the characteristics of this famous grape variety, combined with the terroir of Quinta dos Aciprestes. Through this grape variety, which is very common in the Douro but rarely used as a single varietal, we once again convey our passion for discovering new grape varieties and new wines.

VINIFICATION AND AGEING:
100% Sousão, in a special batch produced from the only parcel of Sousão at Quinta dos Aciprestes. Being a grape variety with a short cycle in terms of maturation, Sousão is one of the first grape varieties to be harvested at Quinta dos Aciprestes. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, in order to preserve all the freshness and elegance that Sousão achieves in the Douro, followed by a 12-month ageing period in French oak barrels.

TASTING NOTES:
Quinta dos Aciprestes Sousão reveals the essence of a Douro Sousão through a deep, dark color, typical of this well-known grape variety. On the nose, very light vegetal nuances stand out, combined with fine notes of ripe fruit and tertiary notes typical of the grape variety, such as coffee and spices, offering complexity and great aromatic intensity. When tasting, it is elegant and smooth, with round and soft tannins, something unusual in wines produced from the Sousão variety.
